I will try tomorrow on a 16 amp 3 phase supply to see if it's any better I may as well keep it ATM as the electric board still have not fixed my broken meter up the yard over 2 years now keep trying to get them to they say they only have one three phase meter engineer in the UK and he is very busy so I am on a fixed price for electric however much I use

Am not right in thinking it's 415 volts single phase or using 2 out of the three phases to give 415 volts

That photo looks like the jumper has been moved over from the 415v> position to the 230v position. Presumably the 2nd jumper was missing and I would be a bit concerned that the welder has been damaged by trying to run it without both jumpers connected properly?
Although I have no idea if that would damage it or not? They are pretty tough old things.

The only practical way to run it in the uk is wire it back up as it was, and power it from any 2 phases of a 3 phase supply.

Even them you might have problems with it tripping out on startup. Try turning it right down and turning off hf etc, before turning the power on.
On my old miller I even had to add a manual switch for the cooling fan as the start-up current was too much for the breaker.

As suggested above, if it owes you nothing and you need one then a modern alternative is not a lot of money really...
If you do have the power supply to run (and don't need to move it again!) it's worth getting it going. They still weld just as well as any modern machine you can buy for that money and will also have a far better duty cycle than anything in the <£1k new market with more top end power available as well.

Yea but the 100a rating on your 3-phase supply might be the total. I.e 33a per phase.
Don't be surprised if the breaker trips as they are often rated quite low at 16a or something even if a 32a socket is on the wall.

Unless you are in an old quarry workshop or a farm with grain dryers etc. They normally have "proper" 3ph supplies!

100A is 100A, nobody quotes summed amps. KW yes, but not amps.
May be wrong of course...

My 325 amp Miller, Dialarc / Syncrowave runs fine off a 3 phase 32 amp supply.

Here's mine.

Correction, it says 250 on it but goes up to 315 / 325 ?

It works at least it starts up had to unplug the he fan to stop the breaker tripping next up a 32 amp three phase socket needed

Ok so now I have power has anyone any idea how to set this thing up can't seem to find a manual emailed miller and gave them the number on the little plate on the back but they said it's not the serial were they re serialed when they were sold in the uk

What do you need to know, what are you trying to weld ? Steel, stainless or alu ?

First lever top left is ploarity, stainless top, alu middle, steel bottom and top.

Second lever going right is current, bottom low, middle medium, top high.

Next is amps control.

First switch under amp knob, is HF arc, I think, could do with a clearer photo.

Bottom position is probably maintained for alu, top is initial, ie stainless.

You've got pulse functions, posh.

Need a clearer photo.
