Not swimming in stuff , there’s FA because Essex lost industries a long time ago . I have to travel all over . Normally midlands and up . I’ve been as far as Glasgow.@pressbrake1Maybe it's a location thing, much less machine tools and associated bits floating around up here. You are swimming in this sort of stuff down your way.

I towed my long bed Triumph home behind my Astra 1300. A decent plant or flat bed car transporter behind a 4 by4 would do it easy. Days work for something you want - it’s not hard boys?

It makes me laugh (Or it ought to..) - I struggle with something of 400kg. Anything like 900kg is above any engine crane I can borrow, so I'm stumped, but then my budget is ridculously small compared to the commercial kit you're dealing with.

I’ve over 30 years in the game and I’m trying to let you know it’s not a nice machine and I’m being blanked or Pooh poohed
Buy it then regret it
I'm not poo pooing either , I can see why in a production or professional capacity it's sub optimal but it's not a bad high capacity lathe compared to having no big lathe. (although I always recommend getting used to lathes on a small one first).

It's not enormous, just about twice the size of my Harrison but it's bigger than would be comfortable in the average garage.
I'm not blanking or poo-pooing you, I believe you, in fact it was your input i was hoping for the most given your experience. Discussion is too often mistaken for argument online.
My hands on experience of lathes is limited to my Harrison, an atlas sphere and an Axminster mini lathe, the latter being an abomination.
It's a bit like cars, I cannot fathom why anyone in their right mind would buy anything made (or branded) by vauxhall....yet here we are, in a sea of terrible Vauxhall's.
Maybe 1 3/4 tonne or thereabouts from what I've seen online, no idea really though.

It’s not a matter of production. They really aren’t diy lathes , they’re old donkeys.
One might say it’s a professional use lathe as it would take far more effort to do a good job than a Colchester for example.
If grim had bought it for himself I’d say well done and keep my trap shut
I’ve got a lang lathe . I like lang lathes but it’s useless for under 150mm diameter, to much of a donkey it’s for hogging material off big diameter
If someone here wanted one as a general use lathe I’d warn them off it
