i will be honest with u .direct drive compressors and smaller belt driven haven't the duty cycle needed for blasting . u will be able to use one but wont do it any favours. I have a twin motor and pump compressor bought cheap and run it fairly flat out for over half an hour and it gets hot I don't care if it gives up il just replace the pump if needed. u could buy a bag of kiln dried instead of soda for taking gel coat back and steady away it should do fine. just do a test piece 1st . its not recommended to use kiln dried on safety grounds . of course I don't use it it makes a nice job on ally as well without being 2 abrasive
