Modification to Pressure Pot.

i can blast with media that looks like flour with no problems.

the biggest issue with the stanadrd pot is route the air has to take to get to the nossel and just how crap the std mixer T is.

when i stuck my mixer together i did so that it uses a venturi effect to help pull the grit, and also so there are no magor restrictions to airflow other than the nossel, so all the pressure drop is across the blast nossel so i get maximum avalible power and efficency

if u have the gear make one of these .there well worth fitting .there verry simlar to a well known design on a comercial pot , if u do a lot of blasting they can be had for about 120 quid i think

That's about right. There is a cheaper type of regulator that looks like a gate valve with a rubber lining inside it.

i have one .i bought it 30 years ago for 70 quid and then found it was 2 big for the pot the bore in the rubber sleeve is about an inch in diameter . great if u have a large enough pot .

Did you buy a venturi or make one? Have you got a diagram showing how you arranged your pipework?

One thing I noticed when I did my mod is the increased amount of air I can get through the nozzle, the original pipework is quite restrictive.

An advantage of my setup is that if the nozzle blocks pressure builds up in the pipe behind the nozzle and not in the pot. This stops more grit entering the mixer and sometimes frees the blockage without having to remove the nozzle.

i made it,

its a very simpel creature, i just cut the end of a short pice of roughy 15mm pipe off at 45 degrees and positioned it roughly the center of where the main airflow through the T would be and welded it. the T was ether a 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 steel pipe fitting

I use crushed glass for blasting and while it breaks down easily it remains sharp. This means it's still useable when it reaches the consistency of flour!

What size glass media did you start with medium ? are you still using the standard pipe and bit

Can't remember the size I bought, you'll need the finest you can get for a 2.5mm nozzle.

I make my own grit from bottles and jars, the final size is sieved through a 16 mesh screen (16 holes per inch).

Ok I was going to order a modded nozzle which you can use on the pots etc

good plan on making the media, I might have to start saving the old bottles etc
