I mean for something like that, unless the box was 5mm+ thick I would run an ESAB 46.44 or a Bohler OHV vertical down.

If the box was thick, I’d use a 7016 or a 7018 and just go straight up around it.

Saying that you could use a rutile, vodex or something like that and put in a neat vertical but I don’t think it would be as tidy as with a basic rod.

Oh no, 6010 pointless on a fillet, as you know not really used over here.

You need to practice in the flat, then move to vertical then move to overhead.

That will stand you in good stead for moving on to doing socket welds in the 5F position.

What sort of electrodes are you using?
