murex 180

I have a murex 180 and have owned and used it it for about four year now.
I had a problem once with the liner and wire feed but thats only cos I was using dirty wire.

I have never had any concerns and regularly use it on car pannel work right up to 6-10 mil plate without a problem.

The duty cycle is fine for me and lets face it how many people actualy use there set solid all day?

Thinks the origin of Murex welders may be the same as Mercedes C class,BMW 3 series you think you are buying German made cars but in fact certain models are made in South Africa.It was once said South African 3 Series had no filler in the wing panels but German ones did.So some models of Murex welders come from this factory while others come from that factory.I can see on the present Murex range where the higher cost of Swedish wages has been saved the whole machine seems lighter and tinnier than previous Murex welders and a look at duty cycles will probably show they are lower.A couple of thou thinner wire can save companies thousands

I have one too, bought it new and only been using it for a few months now but compared to my clarke welder before it (which ithought was ok until i got the murex) it's a revelation.

Anyone on here know where I can buy the digital readout for the 180-1 When I made enquiries about getting hold of one from my local murex dealer they wanted £199!!! is that right? or can I get one cheaper? and if so where and who from?

I deal with MUREX/ESAB Nitro so might be able to shave a few quid off, but they do tend to top you up on the extra gizmos Why the need for one?
