Its not a case of grinding it back to make it look nice, if that weld is subject to any water pressure or forces acting on it, it's not going to last. There's a lot of inclusions in it that will cause a failure.
cheers for that i will keep an eye on it when i have the fire on properly, if and when it fails hopefully i will be better at welding,
well you were right the welding failed, me back boiler all but fell off the fire. but in them famous words......don't panic Mr Mannering, i am starting a welding course on the 4th of jan,

well i went on the welding course and could not see a bl***dy thing,
but i kept trying, and succeded, i moved the boiler INTO the bottle about 3/4's of the way up, plated up the gap, and it is now heating 3 big radiators in the other workshop, i cant wait till it gets cold

What do you mean about not seeing anything ? Do you mean through the darkened glass ? Did you use the college helmets or your own ? Always best to buy an auto darkening, 9 - 13 helmet that you can set yourself.
