I tend to find my out of the gun finish is ok for door jams so I don't normally buff them. The only exception tends to be in the rear door jams where there is often a largish area on the wheel arch. I would normally do those by hand so there is no risk of my buffer spending too much time on the edge! A friend of mine tapes all his edges before buffing.
