weldingartisan, i'd forgotten about the pad, good exercise, liked that one, lots of welding on a small piece of metal, ahh brings back memories... oh crud that means my brain really is knackered, ah well onwards and downwards as they say!!! keep sniffing the fumes, oh, no dont do that, that might be whats caused this memory errr, ummm. no its gone. what was i saying again?

Dunno about this figure of eights malarky.! Personally i always prefered the 'C' or the old crescent moon shape to my welds

I do agree about the pad though. Great exercise. We used to do them at college years ago, but it seems to have fallen from vogue now, damn shame says I. It were great practice. and teaches you to go for the 'slag peeling off itself in one piece effect' as its a real pain trying to get all of that slag from in between the runs, with an old wire brush.!
