My new machine shop

Hello I'm currently in the start of making my new machine shop. The idea is that I wanted a second shop that was to be a more clean one, with out/ limited welding and grinding or other activities in which makes dust and spatter. The shop it's planed to contain milling machine, lathe, glass blasting cabinet, hydraulic press, ultrasonic washer and plasma cutter.
The glass blaster cabinet and milling machine is planed to be bought this cumming summer or fall.
First on the agenda is to remove the garage doors and install walls and regular doors. install work benches and install working air.

Welcome. Looks like you have plenty to do. Lovely part of the world you live in, I was there 5 years ago, the last time ferries sailed to The Shetland. I'd of been back but it doesn't look like they will ever be reinstated. I will be back in a few yrs time though, would like to ride farther up.

What Lathe and Milling Machine are you looking at buying, and then what will you be using them for.

Hello and thanks for the reply.
I'll post some pictures that i have here with me, but as soon as I get home I'll post some updated ones.
If anyone wonders what the thing on the table is, I'll liberate some on the subject.It's a test rig that I built for testing the heating ratio on firewood and water heating, i managed to get some inlet of 10C and some 53 out, but the flow was low, but the test was a success any how. Posting some pictures from the start of making the other shop. I'll post some pictures of some drawers that i made.
The milling machine and the blasting cabinet i have planed to by at a store in Sweden. post the pictures. The shop is called verktygsboden . se. I was there last summer and did some shopping.
One part of the garage is situated under the bathroom and the heating cables is ( im my opinion) that contributes to making the garage to be at a steady temp. In November the outside temp was steady on -5 to -10C and the garage was steady at 8C. But i plan to install some panel ovens that I have in spare.
The plan with the shop is to use it to fabricate the go cart/ cross cart im planing to build withe 1000cc ninja motor i have. Also the plan is try to make some cash to help fund the next items to by. Some local car clubs that needs glass blasting and fabricating/ machining.

Intrigued by the dual mill is it one of these http://www.chesteruk.net/store/model_t_universal.htm Seem ok but costly for whats on offer.
I need a bigger mill 942, 836? or 1050 but havent the room.

The model under the one I have chosen is simulare as the one you linked, but it has some limitation on the side ways movement to some 35 cm. The one I have chosen has 61,5 cm. The first milling machine I started to looked at was this http://www.verktygsboden.se/?id=74158

Yeah attach the images using the 'Add Photographs' button, but you can then insert the pics wherever you want to in your post using the insert image button at the top of the box then selecting the image you uploaded.

If you want to add text directly to a photo, do a google search for "online photo editor" - lots of them around

Some uppdate

I went of and got me some new project. All off this in the end is going ti be fitted in the new shop but the way looks a bit long now, but that is only in the eye of the beholder. The fact is that I've got it for some 50£ and that is some pounds that i can spend in the lottery.
The tank and compressor is a 1959 model and has been standing outside for some 17 years. and for the good half with out the roof on.

Got it home and went cracking on it, and the comp looks fine inside.

After inspecting the tank inside( posting pix wen I've get back home) and it is still some paint in the top inside, and some leftovers in the bottom but, nothing that steam and strip-all can't fix.


managed to give the shelf in the shop the good news from a crow bar and persuaded it to turn in to some fire wood. even got to changed out some of the pipes on the central vacumer.

I've took some pix of the shop that is heated. see if I can do the other one when i get back home.

Trying to get some new gaskets to my three year old compressor came out empty. So I've got some blue Gard and went on to make some new ones my self. Ass you can see it wasn't that much fun making three pieces.

Yep, that's right! About 1987 mod 1000 cc, got it as a junk motor. It start's and run after a while, some bad sounds from some bearings in side. But not'n that cant be fixed. Like the rack it's suspended in? The first job in the new shop will be to start fabricating the frame to the cross cart that the motor is going to fit in.

Tank you, I yesterday actually ordered me a two post auto lift. It is due to be delivered in late April. So I've got some week or two after I arrive back from work to get set up in that shop before it arrives. bringing the total to three shop's. I'll post some pix on that shop when I'm starting to clear out all the stuff. Also I got my self a used working air tank for this shop. The tank was delivered just some days before I got the 250 liter one, but this one is some massive 1000L. That in it self isn't so huge, but there were some important sales detail that was not mentioned. The simple fact that the tank was made for 32 bar or 464 psi. No problem using it for some 10 bar working air pressure then, but the weight was about 1500KG and that makes me some extra obstacles I wasn't interested in. Have to machine a new flange at the bottom of it and make some arrangement's to set it in vertical position. I've also need to make a skid for the compressor and motor. I'll post some pix when I get home in the start of next month.

Hello

After some time off the net it's time to do some updating. Since returning from Japan i March I have done some work in the main shop and the new one. The 250 liter tank has been with me to work and had some steaming.


Removed the last of the tow garage doors. Made the one field on the side of the door possible to remove so that I'm not locked in with only the 1 meter wide door. the field is mounted with 4 bolts in anchors of M8



Now in the proses of making some progress in the new shop. Bought some primer and paint for the floor but first some serious washing and oil removing.




Since I'm not having the working air compressor in this work shop I'm using a 25 liter tank that i found in the scrap and reconditioned as a buffer tank or a accumulator. Going to pull a 1/2 inch hose from the tanks in the other shop in some 200 mm pipes that has been dug down in the lawn. Also installed a rack that all the piping for working air can be installed on. Here is also the paint and primer for the floor.




Since I have gotten so lucky to finally found some one that is selling Alkaid paint stripping liquid. Now I'm making a former water heater to a paint stripping tank with heating, filter circulation and timing.




Some modification to the tank with new drain plugs and new heating elements.



Found some new steel supplier that has some super prices.


Posting some pix to morrow on my mew old Ridgid 535 that I bought for 60£ and the mew priming on the workshop floor. If there is some interest.
