Dare I ask roughly how much these sell for?
Is there still a market for high end English wheels?
I decided to fabricate my own as the usual offerings are Chinese tat.
It's not in the same league as yours but I wanted something portable. And it's also made in England!
Once I've finished getting the dents out of my Norton tank I will be sending it for powder coating.

Sold an Edwards about 15 years ago for £900 only 1 lower wheel.
I saw the scissoring PB talked about, it is quite interesting how they move you dont need a lot of pressure to see them flex

thats one of the daftest sayings ever ,,, its because I ask I know if I can afford things or not , Its like people who used to tell me that if I had to ask how many miles to the gallon my Rolls did I couldnt afford that ,, knowing the value of money has nothing to do with how you choose to spend it ,,,

It’s very true
I’ll pick up a can of beans without checking the price because I know I can (usually) afford it
I check the price of tools because I can’t and need to hatch a plan

I saw it as polite curiosity

It’s emails that just say ‘how much is the vice’ that get on my wick
No hello or anything. I never answer because of the lack of manners and the 16 year old yank brat hasn’t got the grand for shipping let alone the vice

Another one I had was
I really want a vice and I know you want your mark up but I’ve only got £500’

First £500 doesn’t cover the en24 for the screw forgetting about the casting
There is no mark up , it’s a donation towards wage’s
It’s not something to want to help like a leaky roof of broken boiler, it’s a adult child who wants a toy for a fraction of cost

With my stuff it’s so horrendously expensive to produce it’s generally only business that buy so I actually feel embarrassed
I remember when I started (before steel and energy crisis)I thought I’d sell my 24” for £1500 . By the time I got it into production materials came to £3k.

With big lumps of iron it’s normally ok if it feeds ok
99.9999% of founders will replace bad parts due to mishaps
Some might refund as they don’t think what’s required is achievable sensibly

I tried a foundry in London. Without doubt totally hopeless but the owners integrity was spot on , an absolute gentleman.
His set up was awful so he had no chance but he was really architectural so it didn’t matter so much
We got on really well and he wanted me to take over . Still gutted

No as it’s fairly symmetrical and most importantly I’m only machining the two bores so not causing stress relief in one place

I've been following this foundry on Instagram, they make some interesting stuff, glad i can relate too the english wheel now
