my reg should be here this week so will finally be able to get this ****** welded up. i bought myself a new 3m liner too for my torch while i was at BOC's tradequip.

might make a few adjustments to the top crossmember on the sides. i might put it inside the upright posts rather than ontop of the ends. would look neater and i wouldnt have to fill the tube as the hole would be on top. only downside is i would lose 2" on the height.

il have a think about it =)

today got quite a bit done.

Welded a complete side without twisting it and turned out really good. all the holes line up perfectly and it's square.

I also welded my 25mm solid bars to the bottom cross member for the resistance bands.


got to weld the other side together and knock up my center members. Wont take long to do the cross members. wasnt easy lugging that frame about in a small shed!

i also have to put some feet on and make it slightly adjustable. so im thinking weld some big nuts into the feet and make like a wind in foot.

Nice rack ! Oneday i make myself one . My english isnt the best , but wat do you mean with this ;

i did end up changing the way i drilled them. i marked them all from my first perect copy and centre punched them all, then stuck a fan under my pillar drill and drilled all at once. was much quicker.

sorry for the late reply!

i measured one lengh and marked my hole spacing with a scribe. i then centre punched every hole with a centre punching tool and made a copy to the other 3 posts so they were all exactly the same

the fan is just to help keep my pillar drill cool while i was drilling so many holes.

i got back from hol and jumped straight onto it. the frame is finished and come out very well. i did have one bad weld where the wire feed was playing up, but all in all it is brill.

Pics will be up this week!

i am now making my J-hooks that hold the barbell positioning on the uprights and the spotting bars. they would be silly strong the way i shown in first picture. the red lines are where i would weld.

Second picture is a slight bit easier in a way, but if the welding isnt perfect it could land on my face. and as you guys know my welder isnt brilliant!

Think I'd go with number 1 super strong! Regardless of the welding if you get some serious weight on the bar with the second ones it could start to unfold the bends in that bracket. At least with the pin underneath as well nothings going anywhere.

plenty of updates here, sorry for the delays. i didnt take pics of everything but if there's anything you guys wanna see just let me know.

i did take some pics of the weight storage tree but some reason some didnt save.

not sure on colour yet, done a few testers on the frame. unfortunatly i had to leave them out the other night and they started to rust!

the tree is 60x60x3mm and has 25mm solid bar going straight through the upright section and stitched. filled the top with a plate.

gonna have a go this week at making my squat box. i will make the adjustable bench at some point but i need some 25 x 25 box.

il have it all setup this week but i need some gym flooring mats/tiles.

i saw some stuff on a building site that was rubber with dense foam on top that looked awesome for the job. it was in sheets that were about 1M squared.

im guessing the weld in picture #5 blew through because you were enclosing a section of box and the gasses had nowhere to escape.

that pic of the weld isnt a hole. it was just something sitting on the weld. very shiney like solder.
