I had a Micra with a slight weep down the front of the sump. I took it off and gave it a bit of love with the wire brush as the first step of prep prior to welding and it turned into something resembling a colander. I was amazed at how little it was leaking.
I have found, as a rule, that anything steel which appears to be leaking will leak 5-10 times worse as a minimum once you disturb it to locate the exact point or wire brush it. Had it twice in about a week with both a coolant and fuel pipe, just touching them slightly with your fingers or prying them ever so slightly apart (two pipes rubbing) turns a wet patch into a continuous flow - which is bad enough that it has to be rectified immediately, whereas if left it'll manage for weeks.
