Yes, Fry played him.

Right come on Carsten when are we going to see a machined part come off this little lathe? We don't want it ending up being Germany's best-equipped ornament
@25.4_mechanic That one has no drip tray, so coolant would be everywhere.....
They did several cabinets industrial one is beefy. I think the octagonal one is the consumer version.
Of course, I'm constantly looking at all the Myford-related offerings in my area.
In doing so, I came across something a few days ago that I do NOT want, but find fascinating:
View attachment 328465
This discovery suggests to me that at some point long ago, someone - probably here in the south of the country - came to the conclusion, as I did, that their base cabinet was a bit flimsy.
Only where I resorted to a stout steel plate because I could, he cast himself a concrete head weight, apparently to compensate for the same deficiency.
With @slim_boy_fat's help, we had already established by comparison that in his base cabinet, the flat irons that form the feet are about 50% stronger than mine.
Together with this find, I would think that it is fair to say that this form of Myford base cabinet was built "lighter" for export to the continent.
Which, in addition to the direct material savings, may have also reduced freight rates ...
A wonderful day to all

I do have some synthetic soluble coolant in a small squirty bottle that's good for deep drilling but it doesn't get used much.
Hi all,
We have checked again:
The template for 26TPI fits a little better.
The diameter of the upper, finer thread on the drip oiler for the quantity adjustment shows between 7.807mm and 7.826mm, which works out to about 0.3073" and 0.3081".
To create a fraction, I first calculate 0.3081 x 128 and get 39.4368 - If I am very generous here and continue calculating with 40 instead (I am really not sure if this is allowed here), I get 40/128 = 20/64 = 10/32 = 5/16.
5/16"-26 then actually exists as BSB-Brass, 55°, 5/16"-26tpi, OD 7.938mm, core hole 6.90mm ... but even 7.826mm is not quite 7.938mm ...
What do you think???
Thanks a lot

Thank you, I'll wait for that.If you can wait until later in the week, I'll check mine.
Thank you, whats the other one?I have two oilers here one is 5/16" 26tpi.
Thank you, whats the other one?

I have both of these but haven't looked at them in a while.General Myford-related question:
For today's private (Myford) lathe owner, are there still interesting lessons to be learned from
Lawrence H. Sparey's books
"The Amateur's Lathe" (1948), and
"A Man and His Lathe" (1951)
or is it all too modelling specific or outdated?
Looking forward to your answers,
have a nice day
