any recommendations not too expensive
Does it have to be a body saw? if its for car bodywork and sheet materials an angle grinder may suffice with a home made depth stop, that's what I use.
I see... You've gone all retro with your cordless saw..ha ha ha it was to cut the sleeves inserts on my chassis after my one broke, a hack saw did the deed slow and steady

Will that help.
Not a air powered tool, but a bit retro. Bound to be better than doing it by hand.
For your application i would always go with a recip saw if you have space, nice and slow running very controllable
