Need advice - fitting fluorescent lights in garage

Is there even a flicker? a sign of an effort to start? Giving the bulbs a wiggle can work wonders, but most importantly you need to be sure you have a voltage when switched on. Could you draw a diagram of what wires you have there for us? That would help.

I'll actually take a picture tomorrow and upload.

Nope, not even a flicker...no sound...nothing. And it is 110% wired just like old one...I copied it exactly.

live to live (definetly).
neutral to neutral.
2 earths in same connector block as above (on their own obviously).
2 switch lives (I assume) in seperate connector block.
Earth strap connecting reflector to casing.

On casing there is just 1 live, 1 neutral and one earth strap. Out of other end of ballast is white and grey wires running to each end terminal for tube.

Got it sorted...tube did just need twisted anti clockwise rather than clockwise like I did.

So thanks to the chap who suggested wiggling the tube. And cheers to everyone that took the time to give me advice.

Its a Cat 2 louvre and have to say its excellent over the workbench...puts a very bright direct light over it...miles better than old fluorescent it replaced.

But I do see why they would be a bad idea for general garage lighting as there is very little lightspread...but then again, although my garages pitched roof is about 15 feet, the beams where the lights go are quite low.
