Need honest advice on a Tig

The place I'm thinking of buying the ta do replace faulty machines bought from them with a replacement machine on the spot which is priceless if I have a customer screaming for a job to be done and I have a breakdown least I can finish it then.

There called metron welding in Dublin,been in the welding trade for 40 years they deal mostly in Lincon and thermal arc stuff.

Interestingly enough they do a lot of repair work so I left in my broken solter Ac/dc to be repaired there that's when the thermal arc 202 got my attention.But he says even miller do go wrong as does Lincon and fronious so no welder even the €5k+ welders are bullet proof!

I know them alright.id tell them you can get it way cheaper and see whats the best they could do

When are you trying out the big TA multiprocess Kent , now that looks a smart unit.

I was threatening end of this last week because I was weathered off. Trying hard to finish a big gate and railing job on site and collect final stage payment before I spend such a lump and to be fair with doing work on the shop rebuild I have to watch the pennies and prioritise a bit (I know if I like it I will have to leave with it so I am operating on priority 1. bringing cash in before I venture out to test it).
This one come to approx. £2k with the peddle, TIG torch I was going to get the spool gun at same time but its just another £300 that will sit on the shelf for who knows how long and the supplier will send one out to me anyhow when needed. Just forking out for the new electrics, then its a new roof on the shop and trying to do all this and more without increasing the existing directors loan level.

Makes sense to get all in order it's a big investment, I look forward to the thread/review when you've been out to demo it. I tend to think along the same lines that if I go out to see something chances are if I like I buy. As you'll know all to well if there is cash on the hip there is room for a little bargaining. Good luck mate hope it's what your looking for.

Well I done the deed and splashed the cash hopefully it lasts longer than my last Tig!

I'm really liking mine after the problem with the first one. Great on AC. The only defect I can fine in it is the stock torch, that one went into storage right away and I'm using it with my wp20 and cooler. It's really cumbersome and it's too easy to change the current by mistake in the torch control with the stock one

I'm sure it had something inside it when he got it or he would be pretty pi$$ed off . Maybe he has taken a photo of the new box to show us the the new welder and balanced it on the bench edge. Maybe !!!! Who knows.

No didn't get a foot pedal just yet but will get one very soon when finances allow!
Tried it just on dc on stainless and very impressed with the high frequency arc starts and very smooth arc.
That fan fairly moves air alright the noise of it!

Yeah the welder was in the trolley at the time not the box lol!Have to make a few adjustments to my trolley the thermal arc is 10mm longer than my old Tig so doesn't fit in fully!

Was one expensive box I'll tell you that!

I"ll try it on aluminium tomorrow and take a few more pics was tight for time in the workshop this eve.

Have you had a Tig before. I've heard lots of positive things about the TA but they are not compared to anything. The thing I'd like to see would be a comparison with a high end machine but unless someone is down grading that's gonna be rare to see and if someone is upgrading fro the TA they will not give an honest review if the TA was just as good or better.

Richard, in my thread about the machine I compared it to higher end AC DC machines that I use at work, but I use it more and more I will be able to make a more detailed comparision
