New found respect for Digikey, parts ordered on Monday from the US arrived today! Shipping cost was £12 which was more than the actual chips but that's still pretty good. No customs/import charges to be paid.

Getting the old leads out of the PCB was tricky. I had to break out the old hot wire gun to get enough heat in.
New parts soldered in.
The first turn on was a bit nerve wracking, but no bang!
Job done, that's some serious amount of brownie points just earned.
£25 spent vs £300 for a new board or £1000 for a new hob.

80cm, mine is an older model, its replacement that looks identical, probably with uprated transistors is T58FD210X0.

nice one the time taken was also probably less than fitting a new one when you take in recutting the hole to take the new one as well

A crazy element of the design of the PCB was the fusible copper trace in the neutral line of the pcb, rather than a fuse. It saves a few pence but virtually destroys the PCB. It is definitely a design element as there was a conduit under it leading to the cooling fan so that when it vapourised the gasses were drawn out by the cooling fan. It may also be a deterrent feature to prevent anyone trying to repair the PCB. I bridged it with a wire link and will rely upon the MCB.

18 months later and it's blown again. Same two IGBTs and bridge rectifier showing a short circuit. This time a different fuseable link on a mains filter PCB.
Other side
No way the PCB repair I put on last time will blow.
I wish I'd ordered more spares last time, learned my lesson and ordered a bag of each this time.

I’ve been with Britishgas Homecare for years. It’s not cheap, about £25 a month I think. and I very nearly cancelled it a couple of summers ago.British Gas () do a fixed price appliance repair* for something like £99.
The downside is that you then have to take on an annual contract, which in some ways is not a bad thing. The premium is reasonable.
* whether this is still the case, I don’t know.
Then my boiler burst a week before the xmas that year, Saturday afternoon, on the coldest day of the year. Shorted out the electrics, blew breakers, garage flooded with frozen water…..
BG guy came out the next day, Sunday, ordered shedloads of parts, then he came back on the Tuesday and totally rebuilt my boiler.
I only had to pay £65 call-out fee.
