Funny, I always did the opposite and made my jump leads and battery wiring from welding cable as it was cheap and usually a lot better quality than most of the pre-made rubbish you can buy.

My neighbor has some very odd welding cable, it's green, looks just like garden hose. I have never seen anything like
this before.
He marries a woman with a pre-made family, and the 19 YO step son is a real piece of slacker, "your not my real daddy" kind.
Doesn't want anything to do with the new father (my friend, who is a very straight shooter kind of guy).
One day my friend is welding up a skid like used in the oil patch (where he used to work).
I stop over, we walk away from the job to talk, and the stepson's idjit's friend stops in, so they are over there by the skid....
Stepson points down to the stinger laying on the ground "Dude...he's soldering this steel together, and this bright
light comes out of this hose here"
I just about lost it.....
