I'd give the Jackson a shot if I could try it on first. The phrase "Sleek, low profile" can mean "pitifully small", I know I tried a SWP lid on and it was teeny.

I've got a similar esab model (origotech) and its a pretty good lid for the money. Could you get one with a large viewing area for that money? Both my esabs (the origotech and I have a new tech as well) have the standard viewing area, I'd like to try the bigger glass one to see if it's any better.

I've never tried one so I'm not sure if it's a huge benefit having a larger area?

it would probably just mean that I can see more of my poor welding ha ha!

I don't like the origotec but the warrior is a very good lid for the price. It's got 4 sensers which I like.

I find it ok - headgear is not as solid as the new tech but then it was a sight cheaper. I tend to use the origo for arc/mig and use the new tech for tig so I'm not that fussy over it really, it just does a job and keeps me from getting spatter on my spendy one!

I'm not sure you can even get the origo any more - has it been superseded by the warrior tech?

Yes I believe so. The new tech is light years ahead all the others in the esab range for optics. Mine is unreal. I still think it's a little clearer than my new 3350. I do love the massive viewing area on the Viking mind. Is your newtech a shade of light blue when activated.

I have to say I've not noticed Richard, I get the feeling it's green but I've not had it out for a while. May be different to yours as mine is only standard size glass? I'll let you know when I fire it up again.

I just got one of those siflite masks and I have to say I'm very pleased with it for a cheap mask. Big viewing area, pretty comfortable and really clear. My brother (who had never welded anything until last week) was using it when I had him helping me tack up and he just kept it down all the time. I couldn't understand it until I tried it for myself, I really could see around me very clearly. So this week I've been using it myself, open corner welding 3mm steel on 0.8mm wire with the old sip I picked up after christmas, then fillet welding with 1mm wire on my big esab, both as clear as daylight. I have no idea how it would perform on low amp tig, but for what I do it's plenty good enough.
