new oil cooled welder

I have a oilcooled welder similar to that one also made by a south arfican company
Afrox.To change the amps you just move the earth lead to a different terminal,
its a great welder but at around 30kg not that portable

Hi mgarym, with regards to the Tonco, whats the duty cycle like? i was told 20% by the salesbloke, sounds a bit low to me! also can you use 1.6mm rods
on this unit? the guy wasn't too sure. Cheers mate!

Hi there.

I used to own a 240 amp tonco oil welder in SA and it was by far the best welder I have ever used. It never cut out, it was smooth and it was robust. In fairness it did take 2 of us to carry it about and it was a slight inconvenience having to unbolt the electrode to change settings but it was well worth it.

I will definitely get 1 in the uk now
