New shed: Condensation drips are killing my power tools and rusting my steel

Greetings to all, hope this finds you well. I moved into a new house, rented, and there is a little shed. The roof of the shed is just a single layer of box profile roof sheets, very much like the pic below

The issue is that when it gets frosty (every day) the water seems to pool and drip under the sheets, and when it starts to fall its almost like its raining, inside the shed

Anyone got any ideas how I might deal with this, please?

Option 1 remove roof and replace with insulated sheets.
Option 2 fit membrane under it to run moisture outside. And the false ceiling with insulation.
Option 3 insulated false ceiling with roof ventilated.
Option 4 insulate outside of roof and lay new over the top.

Research cold roof or warm roof.

Hiya addjunkie, thanks for the reply. My own first thought was to lay an insulated layer on top of what is there currently, if I can find a matching profile.

My landlords idea is to add a membrane. Do you mean stuff insulation into the gap between the membrane and the roof sheets?

Same as on your door - condensation. The shed was built with the correct fall on the roof, then someone wanted more head room so the roof went on flatter so it now drips.
I had a metal shed that did it, old false ceiling tiles fixed it, but it had dry walls, yours looks to have damp walls.

as its rented there is an easier route for you

put up a false ceiling and insulate it

either use light guage steel or use wood then use plastic cladding as its 5m lengths remember that plastic cladding wants ceiling at all edges

as goes for your door its glue it as if you drill it and screw anything to it you will have top leave it on when your leave

you will also have to cold bridge it as well

Metal roofs get condensation at some point no matter what you do. The membrane is to catch it, similar to the felt in a slate roof and run water outside. You can get box profile sheeting with like a fabric backing. The idea is it absorbs the moisture and stops dripping. The reality is it reduces dripping.

If your going to go over the top with new sheets and insulation, you might as well just replace with insulated sheets.

Previous owner of my old house simply glued a layer of ½” thick polystyrene to the underside of the panels, with extra bits shaped to fit above it in the corrugations – no drips at all as the moist air couldn’t get to the cold metal to condense.

It's popular to apply spray foam directly on the steel underside
after installation around here.

I don't like spray foam.

Used to be a product called "commercial wall spray" that is cellulose mixed with
glue. My neighbor had it done on his shop roof underside.

Over here spray foam was sold as stopping your tiles slipping as well as insulation, people have now worked out you can't see if the roof beams are rotten and no bank will loan on them.

We had a re-roof project the back end of the summer which had 150mm of spray foam on the underside,took us an extra 2 weeks and 5 skips to remove it and cost the punter an extra 4K

Over here spray foam was sold as stopping your tiles slipping as well as insulation, people have now worked out you can't see if the roof beams are rotten and no bank will loan on them.

This is one of the reasons I like Cellulose spray, the glue will fail with a water leak.
so the insulation drops off, look up, find leak.

I reckon that definitely needs some high-level ventilation grills adding. The warmest air, carrying the most moisture, needs an exit.

There was a dry 'blown cellulose insulation' here in the 80's. Free install, bloke with a 4" hose turns up blows the stuff all over your loft space 4" deep. When he'd gone I got a bit and found that you could read it = shredded newspaper, at least it wouldn't burn,( I tried.)

It wont really help, cross flow will just introduce more air over the underside of sheets even though its moving. It must have insulated sheets to enable the underside to be at room temperature.

Made the 2" pvc pipe nozzle myself by heating and forming over a piece of wood.
