I think they've pulled out of industrial workwear to concentrate on the more lucrative fashion 'workwear' rather than pulling out of the UK market...?

@Gragson joked elsewhere about "Dickies" style overalls being used for clubbing.

Years ago a workmate and I were working in the ceiling up above the escalator on Villiers Street that takes you up to Charing Cross Station. Night work and hot as Hell. Both dressed in Dickies, rigger boots and site helmet topped off by an army belt, coveralls unzipped and bare chested underneath.

We stopped early the next morning for a cuppa from an all night cafe to wash some of the dust away (we'd been disc cutting concrete).

It was the same time as Heaven kicked out. Suddenly surrounded by similarly attired clubbers, the fact we both had crew cuts didn't help us fit in any less!

Couple of mates in the household cavalry (blues & royals) used to go to Heaven, more often than not in wizard of oz dorothy style dresses, they were hard as fxxx as well - strange times
Saw the pistols at Aylesbury Friars wearing army surplus boiler suit and no brand riggers

Not a problem when they last 5 times as long.
The Carhartt duck material I'm pretty sure is cut from old scout tents. It's so thick it is stiff to begin with and then they make double fronted.
Just a shame they have trimmed back there lines and no longer make the double front trousers in dark brown which I have found is really good at hiding all the stains

The lomdon barracks was next to a nurses training college they were anything but, the girls there used to put them up to it and do their make up.

On topic - ish, Same mate had his parade riding helmet nicked from barracks locker, it cost him a packet to replace in those days.
