No welding on this project

It's a risky hobby to start. You first get a lathe, then mill, then tool cutter grinder then another lathe but forget to get rid of the first one!
Then there's the tooling:
Rotary table
Indexing head
Clamps
Boring head
End mills
Dovetail mills
Indexable carbide mills
Fly cutter
Face cutter
Slitting saw
Harbours
Machine vice
Angle plates
Involute gear cutters ect ect

And if your machine is also horizontal you end up buying loads of cutters for that too.

And then there is tooling for lathe. ...

And you also need taps and dies!

(The Draper set is from an era when they were made in England. You wont see that these days)

But first of all you NEED a very understanding partner or wife (possibly husband for some).

I totally agree, understanding ones partners need for their toys and pastimes.......

And back to the mill again this time to make some clearance for the tool clamp screws. The turret can now rotate a full 360 degrees.

And a trial fit so far..

The tool post needs to come off but easily done by loosening the top nut

And the radius tool just slides on

It fits

Made the tool holders out of some grade b scrapbinium. I would have liked to use something a bit stronger like EN8 but they didn't take much effort and at 16mm square should be ok. I can always replace later if necessary.
And sorry I had to do some welding here!

Next the handle. Warmed up a bit of flat bar and bent round to match the radius

And drilled the sides of the turret. I put 4 holes in so I can change the position to suit the work

And welded on the handle.

It seems to work, I wonder if there is anything I could make a sphere for. Any ideas?.......
