It's difficult enough to find a space big enough for an L200 anyway, let alone with nearly a foot of step and towball on the back!
Mine's also got a stainless A bar on the front which probably adds another good 4" or so to the length too!
I was told fitting an 'A' bar to my transit without informing insurance would be classed as a modification and invalidate it ,,,,,any comments ?.....what about towbars?
Errrrr....dunno Gav, it was fitted when the guy bought it new
I questioned the carryboy cab on the back to my insurers and was told that wasn't an issue, I've never thought about the bar.
i was told if it was fitted from new it would be ok ,but we all know how slippery insurance companies are, looking at the'veranda' attached to the back of yours, got to make you question would they pay up ,,sorry to hijack the thread though....Gav
Not many of the newer pickups can now tow 3 tonne.
Some are as low as 2600 & 2800kg. Not sure why this is but its just about only landies that can tow the full 3500kg that a standard licenced driver is allowed to tow.
I was behind a new L200 today and noticed they still have the "after thought" foglamp for the UK market stuck under the bumper, makes it look untidy. Don't know why they can't incorporate it into rear lamps like other manufacturers.
Like you say they design the vehicle then think, bummer, needs a foglight and they just 'attach' it on anywhere they can. I personally hate the new shape's, they've went to a 3.2 DI-D engine and a new 4wd systems - this is the only good things i like about the new 'girly' shape.
Mine has to have an after-market foglamp as that step obscures the factory one. The only thing I like about that step is that is protects the rear of the truck, there's nothing to protect the tailgate normally.
They are roboust mind you! My mate has been driven into the rear of his by a E46 330ci BMW and he wrote the BM off and all the L200 had was a bent leaf spring. The L200 was jacked-up slightly mind.
The after thought fog lamp was the biggest casualty of my recent skirmish with a subaru, his was the bonnet, wing, headlamp etc
Apparently he didn't see me
I need a new steering wheel for mine, the leather's badly worn due to the guy I bought it off having big, oily engineer's hands .
I did join L200.org but didn't like the way they keep pushing you to join the owner's club and moving threads to the owner's club member's area.
Yes i'm on l200 site with the same name.
But haven't posted on there i usually use it for reference everytime i have a problem or imagine a noise.
I keep getting drawn back to here reckon this is my favourite site
I need a drivers front mudflap i keep looking on fleabay haven't found one yet sure one will turn up in the end.
