There is a lot of work there and not just the sils
It looks pretty ropey right under the car from the first and 3rd pics.
I've done loads of this sort of thing when I used to chase cash paying jobs but you couldn't pay me enough to be interested nowadays
It's gonna cost you a small fortune to get it done but there is a lot you can do to get that cost right down.
Do all the prep work yourself. It demands little skill to start cutting all that rotten metal work away but it will cost you a lot of cash to pay someone to do it for you. Cut it out to the point you get to something solid and shiney then linish the surrounding areas up bright to take a good weld. Once you've done this you need to get your sils and patches all cut out and prepared/bent/formed etc so basically the only labour your paying is for the guy to come and weld it up. This will save you a ton of cash. After it's welded you take over again and dress it up then under seal the areas so they are properly protected.

Yes there is that. Last one I did was the inner arches on a transit.
We are going back 8 years ago now just before my daughter was born. Guy wanted the job doing and I gave him 2 quotes.
The second quote was 1/3 of the first. I loaned him my grinder and a load of different discs and showed him where to cut out to. He did all the prep work and provided the sheet steel. I sat there when it was done with Tin snips cutting out his sheet patches and formed them over a lump of scrap rail crossing. and stitched them on. I just told him to Tap with a chipping hammer crunch,crunch, thud!! Cut to the thud and brighten it up. Repeat.

Excellent method, and excellent advice! I think this was the only reason I agreed to take on my pal's LDV recently: I'd not long met him, he found out I was a welder and approached me with the "I just need a bit of welding..!"

Pulled out his phone and showed me photos of it all stripped down, attacked with a wire wheel, cut to bits... I decided he'd done the majority of the work so why not do the rest for him.


Better than a "I need it done today to pass an MOT it failed and I'm skint so will free coffee do ya..?" job.
