From memory dive bottles were 10yrs from new until the first test.
Then it's every 5yrs for steel bottles and 3yrs for alloy bottles for hydrostatic testing.
I think they are all supposed to have alternating visual and ultrasonic inspections every 30 months.
I think the actuall rules only apply if somebody is employed to fill them though.
I know our dive club had our own compressor and you could fill your own bottles that were out of test if you wanted. Testing was so cheap though that it would be pointless not to have it done.
