Why not add some simple gussets to the mudguard brackets, that'll stop any stress on the bit where it meets the tank.

Engine showed up this afternoon so pushed on. Just waiting on wheels and tyres and it's job done. RPM meter had trouble picking up the laser because the paint is shiny, and it recommends putting black electrical tape around the pulley. Will have to wait as don't want to peel the paint off when I remove the tape.

Cracking bit of kit looks good and as said MUCH better than Chinese cheapies electric start too !!!
you could also possibly make it idle when the high pressure is reached, you would need a small air ram to pull a spring and close the throttle, when the de- compressors are activated, then it would sit at idle to save noise and fuel.
