what your asking for is really expensive and i wouldnt advise you to put it in the scrapheapThinking of upgrading the radio cassette in the disco to one of those modern jobbies.
Looking for one that will do dab radio, iphone, bluetooth, reverse camera, preferably with a line output that will interface with the harmon kardon amp and speakers already installed. Any ideas ?
When you've finished, can I have your old one to upgrade from my 8 track!Thinking of upgrading the radio cassette in the disco to one of those modern jobbies.

as you would need a stereo with lcd screen
though i am curious about the reference to the amp and speakers the speakers you can use or fit your own
but are you on about its seperated amp built into the fascia front panel
??
They're not exactly as rare as hens' teeth - most car stereos have aux out for amplifiers (and have done so for 30+ years), and many stereos have both an LCD display and a feed for a camera.
Even Halfords have one for £200 - https://www.halfords.com/technology...with-apple-car-play-and-bluetooth-723548.html
I know people give Halfords some stick but they do offer a free fitting assessment so I'd pop round and see what they recommend
If that deal comes off I'll take the 8 Track to upgrade from my Reel 2 ReelWhen you've finished, can I have your old one to upgrade from my 8 track!
So something like this to make it work ?If he wants to keep the factory fitted Harmon amp/speakers then you need a line level input not a aux/pre out.
If the cars have the sub fitted like the disco 3/4 then it's a bit more complicated than that.
I've got a rrs (d3) with am alpine system fitted. Interfacing to the amp to keep the sub running was a pita so it ended up with an alpine amp as well.
I don't remember exactly how I wired it up as I have fitted a few of them. I might have just run phono cables to under the drivers seat but it might be a 5ch amp that has its own crossover for the sub.
I'm just about to stick that car up for sale so could possibly remove the alpine system and sell it separately.
It's a double-din satnav unit with phone, adjustable reverse camera, steering wheel interface etc.
But I don't know if bits like the dashboard surround and the steering wheel interface would be compatible with a D2 though?
I did a replacement stereo in my D2 and yes - you'll need one of these to match the levels. This will give a left/right front/back feed to the HK amp (same as factory) & it will sort it out from there. As said above, it fits a single DIN unit only. To get a double DIN you need to bin the crappy cup holders, move the heater controls down and then you can just about fit a double DIN. some really neat examples out there but its not a trivial job to make it look decent.
Nice one thanks, ordered one. Just need to decide now whether to fit a new heated screen before sticking the dab antenna onI did a replacement stereo in my D2 and yes - you'll need one of these to match the levels. That Pioneer unit looks good - just need to make sure the bottom edge of the screen doesnt foul the AC controls, etc.
Don't do that! Use a DAB/FM splitter, far nicer.Nice one thanks, ordered one. Just need to decide now whether to fit a new heated screen before sticking the dab antenna on
