Would you mind to ask Lincoln what difference that mean (7018-1, I am suspecting the introduction of PTFE in the binder, hence the H4R, moisture resistance) ?

I did write to Lincoln twice but never had an answer (due to my European location I think they do not bother)

Nope 7018 and 7018-1 designation has nothing to do with the moisture contents. It’s to do with the mechanicals the rod can achieve.

enough to be taken in account ?

So -1 have not a particular meaning out of the fact metallurgic characteristics change (I mean that is the same thing for any rod that use -1)

@bR39Da hey buddy forgot my manners cheers for the great advice top class information just acquired loads of filarc rods not sure what I got also got primex welding rods still also got some murex ferex 7016 welding rods kicking about used to love comets but can't find them at the moment can't remember what they changed there name to again sadly don't do enough stick welding all I do is mag welding at the moment
Forgot to ask what's the average price of a 48.00 these days

Are comets and spezial not pretty much the same eletrode?

I've never liked the esab 7016, not sure on name.

53.16 Spezials are the double coated things.

53.00 are the standard 7016 - not common over here at all.

53.00 those are the ones. Didn't like them at all. Nothing like 56s.

To be fair I got a lot of rods a site safe full I'll look in what I got I know there's lots of vac packs but after looking at prices due to I know do more welding then say 3 years ago the price of buying in bulk seems to work out cheaper in the long run. Can't find nu 5s cheap tho
