Arc time is always low compared to positioning, prepping etc

That's a large amount of arc time for one car IMO!





In fairness that wasn't all on the car but it was the second lid I used.
It was a ridiculous amount of welding on a car that was a bit of a curate's egg.

I've had the same problem and solution with a Miller Infinity Digital.
Maybe it's an American thing but more likely they are not designed for low hours DIY use.

I thought I was doing a reasonable amount of welding when I was welding the Alfa (few hours most evenings over months) but the timer on the lid told me I had just 24hrs arc time.
Annoying thing is you loose all the data when you change the batteries.

Just realised my mask wasn't a Lincoln but a Miller Digital Elite!

My Optrel neo got squashed the other week in an altercation with an FLT, sprung right back into shape like a sprung young thing on a spring day.
It was a proud moment.

If it's an early VegaView they did have issues with some.. You'll need to contact the distributor you bought it from and get them to send a RMA form off to Optrel. They will then get a reference number for return.

Don't open it up as it will immediately void any warranty still on it.

I have an Optrel Satellite. Great helmet. It is now about 18 years old and still going strong. I thought it had died last year but left it in strong sunlight and has been fine since.
I know I don't use it much but it has had it's fair share of knocks and drops.

You can't leave it there! I need to know How you managed to get your mask anywhere near an FLT

It’s interesting that all these masks seem to suffer the same issue. Mine is perfect now, switches in and out of grind mode etc etc goes dark when it should. It would be useful to understand how it actually works, ie what the solar part actually does.

I have done a couple of Optrel battery changes and fitted an external battery holder on a flying lead.

No real story guys, racing incident I think Vettel calls them.
The malleable plastic saved the day as Iv no doubt an eBay special wouldn't have survived.

Both of mine live facing the window when not in use, a bit like our cats, keeps them charged.

TBF they all break down... just some less than others. I personally dislike them, but you can't argue with the reliability of 3M speedglas.

i used to be of that opinion, my old 9100/100 tough still works has its uses, 9100v was great till tiddels the d8 ran over it, another 9100v and an airfed 9100v.

then i got a 9100 xxi filter died with huge diagonal crack that appeared over night, neer got any where with warranty, actually bought another as i liked the mask it did the same but after 2 weeks eventually got it replaced so i'm on my 3rd 9100 xxi nice lid to use but not inpressed with reliablity and they dont like the cold then to freeze stuck on dark
