3/4 plate should see us all out
use the same stuff that on the floors of trailers, aint cheap but totaly waterproof....
hard wearing too....u can get it in 3/4 thick.....
is it Buffalo boarding.....?
Table wont be big. 1m ish square
For a moment I thought you were my neighbour...My neighbour has an outside bench...he only uses it when it's a lovely day and everyone is enjoying their gardens...builds furniture...using a router...with a blunt bit...for hours on end!
Back to the question...kitchen top with a sheet of stainless over it? Or make a concrete top...that would be excellent I reckon.
Some more detail.
it’s an outside work table for grinding etc. Doesn’t need to be fancy, just somewhere I can do the odd messy job outside.
Ply is ok but it will delaminate over time. 2x8 type timber will be good as will some heavy metal plate
I want the splayed legs as it will be sitting on gravel and I need it to be stable
How often will you actually use this bench?
I like @eLuSiVeMiTe setup with his 8 x 4 sheet on top
If you want something for hammer time why not a saw horse built with some heavy timber?
You could even have a vice on one end also!
bed the check plate onto some ply! is it ali or steel plate?ive got a very decent heavy timber saw horse
to be fair I can’t really say how much it will be used. It’s one of those things. Idea in head, now needs to happen
I’ve just been to see the chequer plate. It’s 1.3 x 0.9 m and 8mm thick.
it’s getting dropped off sometime this week. Best of all it’s free
bed the check plate onto some ply! is it ali or steel plate?
fook it then make a frame to go around the 4 sides nd maybe in the middle that will absorb some bashing! job done i got my bashing bench made from work top out side when it dies i replace itIt’s all steel, plus I don’t have any suitable ply and this is ano spend project
Any bench is better than no bench. Build something - use it, when you destroy it then replace it.
Or go the @8ob approach and buy massive old benches that will outlast everything but then have no where to put them so stack more items on top of them so they are then unusable.
