Owd Chop saw ???????

Going to look at this this weekend.

Any thoughts on it, worth a rebuild and a VFD fitting maybe.? its a 3 phase so maybe even fit a single phase motor. I thought it was a cold saw but it has a cutting disc in it

Use the correct grease too...

no point in putting speed control on it with cutting disks. it needs to run as fast as possible and its not dual voltage

Rolling mill I used to drive fork lift at used to have a bank of those type of saws and they were called Radiacs

Could it be converted to run Evolution cutting discs? If it's belt drive the pulley ratios could be altered but would the motor have the torque?

Could be wrong but I would have thought that was an aluminium saw that someone has put a abrasive chop saw disc on.

As said kida. Looking at it this weekend to see more. I thought it was at first like you say a cold saw. But it's got the disc in. It's not been used in a long time and needs work. Could of been faffed with.

its only 1hp thats not a lot

you realy need to know the speed of the motor thats on it before replacing

I would check the existing motor plate, the Salan plate says 400v, but the motor may say 240/415v. Your motor just says 400v. Interesting it being made on Church St. Whilst just off the town centre, it is pretty much all shops, banks etc. I can't think of anywhere on that street that could have been industrial, unless it was before the "new" shopping centre was built, late 1960s.

yea but look at the size of the machine for a 1 donkey chop saw..worth £50 though all the same
