I don't think so, you won't have the torque slowing it down with a VDF and there isn't enough space to get big enough pulleys to gear it down really. Even once you've got the speed right and made an adapter for coldsaw blades, the slightest hint of slop/runout/lack of rigidity in the arbour, bearings or pivot will snap your expensive new blade.

It looks like a slow speed cold saw to me...

You can surmise a good deal about its speed by looking at the belt cover and assessing what pulleys would fit under it. My estimate is roughly 1:1 ratio (it sure isn't 4:1 or 1:4) so the disk will be going about the same speed as the motor. Standard motors are 1400 and 2800 rpm or 750rpm so if he posts details of the motor plate we can resolve that issue fairly quickly.

80m/s is standard for abrasive disks, which is about 4300rpm for a 14" disk (typical Screwfix abrasive saws have no load speeds of 4000 rpm).

The picture of the motor he posted is a 2-speed one, with wiring options in 2Y/delta.

In this particular case it is a two speed motor, so it is quoting figures for both speeds.

You would also see two values for a single speed motor that can be wired in star or delta: in the lower voltage setting, the current draw will be twice that of high voltage wiring (power = volts x amps).

Ah i just seen the HP 3.3/2.5 and thought that was the HP of the motor. That is a plate of a motor i have here. not on the saw.

you realy need to know the speed of the motor thats on it before replacing

I would check the existing motor plate, the Salan plate says 400v, but the motor may say 240/415v. Your motor just says 400v. Interesting it being made on Church St. Whilst just off the town centre, it is pretty much all shops, banks etc. I can't think of anywhere on that street that could have been industrial, unless it was before the "new" shopping centre was built, late 1960s.

ill just rebuild it as is, i tried to find specs online but no luck. ill get more info tomorrow, for the cost mite aswell buy it.
