I had the same welder, i had it hooked upto a 32amp socket with a c breaker. Anything less it would pop.
Yay I got a Pickhill Bantam 180A single phase for £50 on FB.
Insisted I test it on collection. 'No problem'.....he said.
Got there and the 16A socket dosent work.....he knew I drove almost an hour to collect it....
Some may have took a chance, not me I have three scrap ones which is enough for a lifetime!
Expecting problems I had luckily thrown my 16A to 13A lead in the car.
Plugged this in to a 13A socket and sat back watching the welder smoke like crazy.
'I thought it was ok but thanks for testing it'
Lots of 4 letter words would aptly describe my thoughts at that time!
5th time lucky then?
if its fed from an mcb to a socket they knock a 32 amp b type breaker off just turning it on best off on a 16 amp plug and use a c type 20 amp breaker£50 was a crazy bargain. people still sell it for over £100. I picked up one few days ago for £70 driving more than 1.5h each way. cable are very short and need replacement but seems to be welding okay at moment. maybe on 13A may luck power and 16A would be better? any thought on it
