TBH, when I was welding (cutting etc.) full time, I would say there was more chance of a flashback from cutting then welding.

You also need to consider what is required if you are a company, or self-employed and the rules you need to meet then.

Whether working from home, for an employer, in the middle of a field etc, and regardless of what insurance t&c's are in place, you should have flashback arresters.

The only time when it's OK not to is when the answer to the question of 'is my life worth living' a clear no (and there isn't another person to suffer from the explosion within a couple of hundred yards) - especially when you consider how cheap they are new if you're happy to work with oxy fuel without flashback arresters you should be equally happy to jump off a bridge without anything in place to break your fall. Simply stupid.

Doesn't matter whether any particular operation is less dangerous, you can always have something go wrong. You don't take chances with O/A.

Not telling you off, just making it clear to anybody who ever reads this one day and thinks they can use oxy fuel without them as xxx process may be safe enough.
If I ever tell you off you'll know about it!!!
