oxy acetelene or oxy propane?

Dunno about joining copper pipes by brazing, but copper can be TIG welded (takes a lot of heat) and need to use de-oxed copper rod, natch). A little about this in the Ron Covell Tig Welding Basics video, along with the man welding 2 razor blades together and -- party trick only -- aluminium foil.

TIG can be used for welding or brazing copper. I've adapted copper pipe fittings by TIG welding using copper wire (stripped cable) as a filler. Oxy-propane is good for brazing and cutting steel (different cutting tip from acetylene), but cutting uses much more oxygen than with acetylene as the fuel. W/A

Quick question whats the difference between gas welding and Brazing?

The usual answer is that welding is the fusion of the metal to be welded (with the addition of similar filler rod where needed) while brazing is the bonding of metal using a different filler rod.

So, welding takes place at a higher temperature.

Lots of other differences/debates/etc.
