Oxy acetylene welding problems

I always think that it is more noticeable with Oxy/Ace as you only have a pair of goggles between your face and the weld pool, unlike all the other processes where you have a full face mask!

Hello Wendelspanwick,

not entirely true, I use a green full face mask as normal goggles do not work with my bifocal glasses, not easily anyway. A full face mask is brilliant for my needs. Readily available through welding suppliers.

Hi, thanks for the replies they have been very helpful. I've tried a few things this morning and it looks like it was a combination of the things you all suggested so I now have less sparks and no oxidation in the welds .
