Oxy fuel welding and brazing

There are some instances when TIG won't do what OA will do. I have come access old cast aluminium motorcycle engines that have been successfully OA welded but TIG just won't work because the impurities play havoc with the arc

Many years ago I welded up an Austin Maxi gearbox that had hit an object in the road. Did it with OA as we didn't have Tig. Worked out well and was in use for years afterwards. Looking back it would have been a nightmare with Tig.
@Memmeddu I can definitely say that gas welding 1.6mm ally sheet is faster than Tig. It has to be to stop it running on the floor!

Good skill to have, especially if you have bottles you don't need to pay rental on.

I'm not saying it's not a good process and I'm not pretending to start an argument about.
You can go with Tig nowdays it's more convenient IMHO.
Now the thread was about oxy propane on aluminum, not oxy acetylene.
We regularly weld 1mm thick air conditioning pipes.
We use Tig , 1 or 1.6mm green tungsten maybe 80 Hz 25A not fast but not even slow as it heats up quickly.
Impossible with OA because many times you have to save the rubber hose.
Again not the cleanest thing due to the tracer but doable
