You know when you spot local landmarks and things in pics...
I spy a dumper from a fairly local fabrication/building contractor.

I have seen a few iveco’s with almost no back plate left. there was a bit of fiddly fabricating but worth it. You can see here the slight variation in colour on the cross member
Father thought he only needed brake pads but while it was all jacked up I gave it a good going through. Refurbished the callipers,

new disc’s and pads then notice some rust so sorted that as well then while the front was off new hoses, and a thermal fan clutch, I thought I might as well do it while its off, didn't do the cam belt, I did it the year before.

As you say they are great trucks mechanicaly as long as you can keep on top of the tin work.

Fathers is a 1997 its the 5912 with 200,000 on the clock and still strong, he also picked up another one a couple of years ago for parts.

Thats great the service book one these iveco's I think goes upto 7-800,000

I used to get 5 ton version and have it down plated to 3500kg, so could be generous with payload yet truck was still safe ,tried the 6.5 tonners as well , but couldnt get more than 14/18 mpg, spoke to a recovery guy he reckoned I was doing well he ran two best he was getting was 11.mpg worst 8, my favorite was a tipper, originally a panel van, I bought it as a write off, stripped to the rails, put on bigger discs all around, used the front of the cab but replaced back with a cab that had front smashed etc etc, fitted tipper and tail lift to it, I sold it later as it was starting to show rust, day I signed log book was exactly ten years to the day I bought it. with the 6.5 I had beavertail and hiab and would run with 16 foot tri ifor, tractors on both . I had stretched the chassis on that one by 3 foot.
