The ROC would stamp were there was space, dam annoying.
MOD was normally on the sliding jaw.
The GPO was odd. They had lots issued to them. But as it was involved in "Cold War" activities. Their stamp was on the main body. But it doesn't mean it was used in the GPO.
The GPO was an oval stamp for each department, then a number stamped below it.

Its not a great clear copy unfortunately.. Tried to order the swivel base which is a bargain but they don't seem to have a website, slightly remiss of them in my opinion

Gave it 3 coats of Hammerite smooth, gone off like rock but its a bit black and a bit shiny, its what I had on the shelf but would do a more mat finish, actually looked better back to metal.
Will rough the lettering and wifes going to pick out in silver, used to do design work so better skills than me!
Jaws trued up nice and the mech cleaned up back together works really nice, getting the QR spring loaded and back right was a bit fiddly, must have been doing it the hard way
Boys getting the bar ends turned down at work tomorrow then I can press the ends on.
Working and looking a bit better than this tho

Might put something in the wanted section along with the whereabouts of Lord Lucan

Shame to see the ends cut off the tommy bar. I had the same problem with my 53, took three goes of heating it till it was red hot and then clamping back in the vice, works beautifully now. It was a very subtle bend at each end that made it sticky, it wouldn’t slide through the hole freely.
I hear you, I am not that much of a purist but...
I ground off one end as little as poss from the 38 bar, just enough to pull the end off. Picture of the original bar and ends as they still are below.
The bar and ends in previous pic are not the original and I may even grub screw to be able to tap them off easier if I manage to straighten this one and refit.
It has more bends in it than it appears
They're quite a weighty devil though, so posting it may not be the best option, if I do. Plus, you know what couriers are like for booting stuff around.Never heard of them before - serious bits of kit!

Parkson and Parkinsons. Different companies per se... though related to the same company at the core I think, J Parkinson of Shipley.

Different brands same company. J Parkinson also made Sunderland gear planers
Saw on another thread the use of gilding leaf, thought I would have a go with silver on some bigger lettering for practice, bit bling and not as easy as I thought!
On the parkinson, this will be a job for.......someone else and probably in paint..
Pressed the ends on the bar and grub screwed through in the unlikely event I restore the original bar I could take these off.
Wish I had a wee lathe and space and money...
