Patching sills on a van

Someone has asked me to patch up his sills on a van ,he has all the parts i just need to do it ,i dont know how long it would take me so how would you price it ..dont usually do car bodywork

Few years ago

Couple of years ago before i got into welding think i paid £80 for a patch on rear of sill, focus just before wheel arch, about 10 square inches

That said done my first vehicle repair today, took me quite a while.

It’s one of those how long is a pice of string questions, an inch hole generally turns into 6” after some grinding.

Very difficult to judge the job until you've removed the rusty stuff

I must have spent atleast a week welding up my van now

inner sill or outer? Which van? Can you get it under cover to work on? If the answers are inner, mk6 Transit and no, run a mile. Ive been leading a search party for something to weld to under my van since Monday...

What do you mean by "he has all the parts"?
Its not the rot you see,its the rot you dont see
I do this often,dont mess about patching,if you can get the complete sill then do so

you will find the inners have gone also,trust me,esp front end

I remember pre internet days Helping a mate to weld a front valance to a Mini Metro. we were at the back jacking points before
we got something solid to weld to!

I once did a Capri where I had to start at the chassis leg and work my way out. I looked at a job on a Datsun once (pre Nissan) the chap said it pulled to one side when he braked. I told him to drive it very carefully to the nearest scrapyard, the inner wing was non-existent and the strut top was waving in the breeze.
