peugeot 207 electrical circuit fault

Hear this: Half burnt out car got knicked by someone from the layby (scrap collectors with a hiab?).

Yes fired up straight away all fixed.

was it hard to find a same set serial numbers etc

up date dryed the fuse unit bcm over a couple of days using a heater and leaving in the front room then using the heater under the bonet in the car while doing other stuff keeping an eye on it

then installed the bcm and ecu and putting all the wires back and tryed it

nothing turn key nothing think think go make coffee come out door with coffee in hand

b******s i did not put all the fuses in had a tray of them there in the front room

go get them put them in the car turn key it STARTS

yes yes yes

leave running drink coffee all lights and faults on dash seam to be still showing
use mates cheap reset tool 7 faults in total reset all gone

car now runs as normal lights indacators dash lights every thing works packed up leaft over night stated fine in morning went to work again started fine and took it for a 5 mile drive again seams to run fine

ive spent a couple hours after the car started cleaning around the

all around this area clean wash out dry and mastic to stop water getting near the top right corner where the fuse bcm is sited

now hope but a few more jobs and if any one is willing a bit of help
the seal on the fuse bcm box now seams to act like a sponge as does the 2 rubber bits on the far left and right even after 2 days of being hung on a line i can wring them out

this photo shows the seal round the fuse box it seams to be retaing water youed think it would just be rubber but its more like foam like i dont know ifs its just old or its failed

these go at the ends of the vents where the wiper are im assuming they are suposed to direct the water from going over where it should not one of these are just above the fuse box and is like a sponge even wet now after days on the line outside drying them

are these supposed to retain water like this see 2nd pic close to my hand the water as i squease and when i took them from the car i wrang them out like a sponge loads come out

now ive got the car right and running i want to do as much as i can to stop it happening again but dont want to spend as much as the car is worth as all these parts are dealer only bits to replace

i wanted a new seal phoned them i can buy a new cover for the fuse box that inc a new seal (they think) 40quid but if the seal is the same as soon as the seal gets a bit damp i can see how the fuse box got water in it and tracts the water across

One fo the first things I did was hoover out that scuttle area.

I guess you must already know this but behind that plastic cover on the front of the scuttle near the driver's side wing you'll find two pollen filters. On ours they were crammed full of crud.
