I decided against the braze in the end and just welded the tops and the sides left the wire showing underneath they'll do for now.
Feet look spot on. Lovely scaly texture I think lightly ground and welded are great natural looking surface textures.
If you still have the tail to do I wonder if it won't 'even up' a bit and look proportional?

I like the way it's coming on though, it really is a work of art.
Sorry I missed your reply, no not saying that about anything else, just really liking the head and just spotted the post again seeing those feet/claws, wow, cant wait to see it completed!are you saying the rest is rubbish the body and wings are going to be done in sheetmetal, hopefully stainless, copper and brass so I can hopefully get some good colours, the beak i'll do in brass too I reckon.
Loving the feet! Will you be cladding the body in feathers?
If unsure how about googling a few pics of actual bird to get some idea of sizes/perspective ?
