Just wondering about the quick hitch on the unpainted bucket haven't seen one like that before. Is it from some sort of dredger. well would be my guest and what's the ring on the back for

That's kinda scary about the trike
Back in about 1985-86 i had a saturday job at my friends dad's company - Metal polishing.
There used to be a vat in the corner of the one room with kettle elements and trike in the bottom and we used to spend half our time degreasing parts in peforated bucket hanging in the steam/fumes

Probably for a folding-link type of quick release. The pins on the hitch are held apart by links that hinge in the middle with a locking mechanism. Our machines all use that kind of hitch, quick to release and only a 1-man job.

The ring must be temporary.... to turn it over for a better welding position...or something along those lines .

Actually, it looks like the front 'hooks' are picked-up on the front pins first then the hitch crowded so the back pins locate in the slots then the bucket is locked-on by square-sided slots somehow. The ring is just for moving the thing about in the yard.

that's what i was thinking but why are they square I would have thought they would be round. agricultural machinery have something similar but backwards if you know what I mean as the bucket faces away from the machine but the locking pins are always round
you are probably right about the ring as it wouldn't last long if you were digging

Preheat to 170f and sequence weld, no trick New buckets, quick hitches, grabs, crushers and refurbs

Bang on the money. A small ram in the hich pulls a bar into the slots both are tapered. And the ring is just temporary.
