When twisting the bar does it end up uniform?

Yes, straight as an arrow!
If you notice in the 1st picture there is a little platform in the center. I intended to use that for a warp controller. I was envisioning welding a small piece of pipe to a rod set at the proper height to help control the warp-age if need be. I’m considering finding some 1 3/4-inch, (44.45mm) tube to match the rails of the Shop Smith so I can do longer lengths of pickets. Some of the professionally built picket twisters allow you to stage longer lengths of flatbar. This unit will do little over 36-inch, (914.4mm) in length now. For as much as I’ll ever use it, I just might weld pieces of twisted picket together to get the lengths I need!

If you also had an arragement to hold the centre, you could do double twists, centre only twists, reverse twists...
