What u guys thini
how many passes did you do? I don't do much pipe welding, except the occasional bit of exhaust pipe with mig but full penetration is almost guranteed with that
thats sound its all i had in my car at the time i know you would usaly thread 2.5 inch im just gunna use this pipe to get the hang of it in the 5 g position i think then move on to bigger pipe
like a snickers advert game on. but seriously im just trying to learn as many techniques and welding process i can to become a proper welder and fabricator. i sadly learnt to late in realizing what i wanted to be
to be honest i enjoy the challenge stick is hard enough at the best of times but thats what i enjoy. if i did ever have to do a fab job for another person i would just mig it no worrys
@Rrunnach ...... Got my BS9606 cert through the other day, now qualified for butts and fillets up to 40mm. I noticed on the cert that it qualifies me to do 'plate and pipe'
We don't do pipe but would that let me weld pressurised pipe lines..albeit MIG and downhand (Which is what my test was)
This code of practice sets the standard for the welding of carbon steel pipework within the building and engineering services sector. It deals with the welding of services for water, steam and gas pipework at pressures up to and including 17.0 bar and/or temperatures from -20˚C up to and including 220˚C.
HVCA, now BESCA, see link and, scroll to page nine/ten, the rest is waffle.
You can test out on mig, 6g being the better option.
Cheers.
Ps, I forgot to add, once an individual passes a particular process (O&A-MMA-TIG-MIG) achievement is added to skills card and, renewal required every three year.
