...Understandably if you want quals in pipe welding you need to weld two bit of pipe together, not plate which mine was done on. Wonder why my/our cerst say we are qualified for pipe.

Plate in 3g and 4g together qualify you for pipe with a diameter of 24 inches and over

I don't know content of BS9606 and, hard to see how one code can interlink with the other as each code relate to different industries.

You need to have a word with body concerned for an explanation/interpretation of standard when referring to pipe!
