Just to update. She lives!! But.......
It's leaking gas at the connectors, ought to have heeded something I read and bought 'proper' jubilee clips, and I might replace the hose with something a bit more pliable too.
Tried it on the first bit of scrap to hand, a piece of 3mm flat sheet. it fired up but set at 30A[ish] with air by the gauge at c. 45psi, it burned out the tip. Removed it to find there was no small ceramic spinner ring in there, so fitted one from the 'spares' and tried again. Improved a bit, but not what I'd expected then the rain started so all away in the shed.......
Thinking about it, with it being pilot arc, I might have been touching the steel plate instead of 'standing off' with the torch
. That, and maybe 3mm was a bit ambitious for a reduced air supply. I'll try something thinner next time. Luckily I've ordered more spare consumables........
First job will be to fix the air leak(s), possibly not until next week, then go from there. Then I might not be trying to run before I can walk.

i asked skotl for these i had no instructions for it
TBH, I set the air at about 65psi and never touch it after that.
12 mm would be at 50A
8mm at 30A
6mm at 20A
3mm at 15A
Start at the edge, if you can. If you're starting in the middle, angle the head very slightly away from you and bring it to straight once it cuts through.
The other trick is to make sure you're going fast enough - it's easy to go too slow so the cut ends up being uneven - speed up and the cut will work better.

Mine doesn't have pilot arc but it could do 3mm all day, on the sheet or a few mm above it. Your PSI could maybe go up a bit but it should cut 
That said, if you don't have the correct consumables then I suspect all bets are off

Much appreciated Scott, but I'll hold that in reserve to see if the ones take forever + 1 day to arrive from China [actually, some small stuff arrives double-quick]. The ones I've ordered are 'extended' ones which may be better for working to a template or straight edge, time will tell...
I've realised the this one doesn't have pilot arc, although the word 'pilot' is in the listing heading, but not the details - mea culpa
. Not that it's a deal breaker, I dare say I'll manage as is.Thanks for the pointer re power setting, I obviously had it screwed up too high for 3mm. Once I fix the air leaks I'll have another go.
The ones I have seen with Pilot arc have an extra terminal on the front panel and wire up to the torch head. On the consumable I only ever use extended ones, I also tend to make sure I get ones with the flat end rather than domed, for some reason I find they work better, well they do on my cnc work.

Has anyone changed from basic PT31 torch to AG-60 style torch? Some have said it would give more cutting power and longer consumable life? AG60 torches can be had for a tenner from China with better looking trigger as well, but will the fittings fit? I don't have a plasma but was wondering how it would go.

Just done mine, easy enough had to solder 2 wires and it bolted straight on to the original lead.

Had a mostly successful afternoon sorting out the air supply leaks - completely replaced the supplied 'hard' plastic pipe which supplies the torch with propane line of the same o/d but slightly thicker wall, allowing the rubbish clips to get a decent hold and all fine there. Cut the hard [i.e. unbendable 
] pipe which goes to the gauge and fitted in a length of clear, bendy plastic stuff I had lying around and which is a tight fit over the existing one. Fine until I connected the compressor...blew one joint off . Now Araldited, leaving overnight and will test tomorrow. If it holds, I'll separate the other joint and give it the same treatment.
Then I should be good to go.....#fingerscrossed.

Just a little.
One end of the Araldited joint(s) blew apart on first attempt, so I tried super glue which seemed to work - then the other end was leaking but not separated
, so I've wrapped all round it with self-amalgamating tape for the moment [Heath Robinson is alive and well and living in the frozen North ]. I then managed to get it to cut, but 'operator incompetence' meant that the cuts were far from great - too slow or fast in the travel and a bit of experimentation with settings needed.
Burned out a number of tips, but luckily the extended consumables I ordered from bang_good arrived very quickly [DON'T make the mistake I did and Google 'goodbang'......... ] https://www.banggood.com/60Pcs-Air-...-p-1028100.html?rmmds=search&cur_warehouse=CNNow everything's white and a blizzard blowing outside - and although the showers aren't lasting long and there's not too much depth lying here [at low level], it's put the kibosh on doing anything outside........
