Yeah but have you seen the price of some of them, these are bad enough for a bloke just doing the family car.
So just to be clear with these pads, if I used a medium with G3 I would get a faster cut than if I used a soft with G3? And what's the difference between the pads that are on a backing disk and the pads that have the disk built in please?

The velcro discs make it quicker to change for people doing a lot of polishing.
Don't try just buffing out bugs or bits, flat it first.

Yup! I have some 1200 and 2000 grade.
Just a thought then before I spend large quantities of whampum, why can't I use my Bosch random orbit sander? doesn't look much different to this thing

Your sander may run too fast. That would result in too much heat and disaster.

Sometimes I use a quarter sheet orbital sander to help with the initial flatting of the clear if I have a lot of orange peel but patience and a long board are better.

It has an infinite rotary speed control and a 125mm velcro pad and I see they do sponges at 125mm in the bay?

you can try the random orbit one...might be a bit slower going , maybe worth a bash before you spend out

Hi Steve, I thought I might, I've ordered a couple of different sponges for it. Worth a go aint it, it only cost a tenner for the sponges so no big deal if it doesn't work out.
My bosch random orbit sander is over 12 years old and built with a bit of quality, still as good as the day it was bought, it can be set really slow with the thumb wheel electronic speed control. yes I have some G3 and have also ordered some G10

yeah worth a try i guess ...some of the sanders dont have much throw on the orbit or enough grunt in the motor , if its a one off job you might be able to get by with it
